広河原川

Shirakawa and Hirogawaragawa, which flow through Nakatsugawa, are one of the headstreams of Mogami River, a major river located in Yamagata Prefecture. In the beginning of spring, the melted snow from the mountains engulfs the soil to create a milky white color and continues to flow down, and between the summer and fall seasons, the crystal clear water glistens the deep riverbed with a beautiful blue color.
At the dry riverbed, you can find interesting types of stones such as jasper, agate, chalcedony and pyrite, and traces of the Yunosawa mine remain at the upper stream, where you can find various types of minerals.
