Mountain gods and giant trees
On the way towards Yunosawa geyser, there is a hill where giant trees stand in a row on the west side of the road. There, you can find two thick and large Japanese cedar trees that are estimated to be over 250 years old. Between them is a small shrine worshipping the mountain god, and inside a dedicatory card marked with the years of the Horeki era (1751-1764) is stored. From this card you can see that it depicts a mountain god that has a history of over 250 years. Inside the mountains of Hirogawara, there are various areas where giant trees grow, and they can be seen from the train window on the way to the geyser.
